First Trip to the Zoo!!!

When Meadow was born, I created an email address for her where I send her updates on significant events.  And I finally thought, why not make these blog posts as well?  Below is the latest email I sent to her…….

Hey there, honeypot!

I’m so sorry I’m so late with this one because it was actually last week that we went, but on April 13th, we took you to the zoo for the first time!! You had a great time, and quite frankly you had a better time than I thought you would.  You got to see the pandas and giraffes very close and personal.

She Told Me That She Loved Me

So I know it’s been forever since I posted ANYTHING on this blog, and for that I’m sorry.  In a way I’ve kind of done myself a disservice because I wanted the blog to be my own memory of Meadow growing up and parenthood and all that.  But nonetheless, I’ve slacked and there’s nothing I can do about that.  Besides, she’s still a kid and she’ll be a kid for a long time. So I’m sure I’ll have plenty to write about.  She’s on the verge of being 20 months old, and SO MUCH has happened in the last year.  I know, duh, right?

23 Weeks: A Parent’s Diary-Sleep is in style again!

Whoa it’s been WAY too long since I wrote anything. I’ll blame it on whatever: no time, felt lazy, too busy with the baby, too busy with work, and the list goes on and on. Either way you look at it, I’ve done all of you a disservice by not keeping you updated, but I’ve also done myself a disservice by not posting regularly. Now my parenthood log has a gap. I’ve got to try and go back to my memory banks (which have been leaking like a sieve since graduate school) and pull up all the nuggets of development that Meadow has given us the last, what is it?, 7 weeks now!! Wow, it’s been 7 weeks since my last article! Ouch!

16 Weeks: A Parent’s Diary-Open the Flood Gates!!!

She’s drooling now. I mean really drooling. Like all the time… non-stop. The only time she swallows anything is when it’s feeding time. We need to somehow teach her that it’s safe to swallow things other than milk. It’s cute, yes, but it’s also frustrating. If you have a rag close by it will be too damp to be effective within 15 minutes. Now is the time where blankets really need to be repurposed into towels. They simply last longer. They absorb more. And then, of course, you can’t get it all. The onesie gets wet, and what a gross, clammy feeling when you reach down to pick her up and she’s cold and clammy. Yuk! Oh, but the one that takes the cake is the drool that drips and hits your hand while your baby is in your arms. There’s nothing more alarming then the sudden warm, slimy feeling when a huge drop of drool hits your fingers. Gross! You know what the really sad part is? I know it’s only going to get worse! :(

13 Weeks: A Parent’s Diary – She Talks!!!

It is so hard to find time these days to even attempt to keep a regular blog, but I also find myself in NEED of recording things so that years from now I can at least remember things that I felt, or saw, or heard. And this is a tough balance to maintain, because parenting moves SO FAST: no time to do anything, but you better write down the stuff when it happens or you’re going to forget.
